The Diplomat speaks with Dr. David Dollar about China’s proposed economic reforms.

China is in the midst of a tricky transition, from a mercantilist growth model to an economy driven by consumer spending. The Diplomat’s Shannon Tiezzi spoke recently with the Brookings Institution’s Dr. David Dollar, a former  U.S. Treasury Department official and World Bank Country Director for China and Mongolia, about the Third Plenum and the recent reforms announced by the Xi Jinping administration, including the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, and China’s prospects for change.
