As Australia’s foremost tourist destination, the Gold Coast has long been synonymous with golden beaches, a relaxed outdoor lifestyle, and world-class cuisine and shopping.

But while successive generations of visitors have been enjoying these wonderful aspects of our city’s way of life, a quiet revolution—of the educational kind—has been under way.

So significant is its contribution to the Gold Coast economy that education is one of the ten professional streams supported by Business GC, the Gold Coast City Council’s business development arm.

And it’s not hard to see why.  With more than 400 education providers located within the city—universities, vocational educational establishments, private training providers, English language schools, and a wide range of primary and secondary schools—learning is at the core of the Gold Coast’s economic development objectives.

As a young and vibrant city, the Gold Coast’s education providers are at the cutting edge of the learning revolution, and are renowned for innovation, flexibility and focusing on specialist needs.

In particular, the Gold Coast is an established destination of choice for overseas students, with an enrolment increase of 25 percent over recent years—more than three times the national figure.

With those students coming from more than 100 different countries, the Gold Coast—already well known for its diverse cultural blend and enthusiasm for sampling new experiences—has much to offer to and gain from this cultural enrichment.

So if you’re thinking of undertaking a course of study overseas please consider doing so on the Gold Coast.  I can guarantee it’ll be a most rewarding experience for us all.
