Liberal Party standard bearer Sen. Noynoy Aquino made the bold claim in an interview with a foreign publication that if the will of the people was frustrated in the upcoming elections, then there would be another 'People Power' revolution that would dwarf even the recent Thailand civil problems.

Various groups and parties immediately responded to Aquino's call. Manila Archbishop Rosales called it 'crazy, crazy, crazy'. He went on to say that it was irresponsible thinking on Aquino's part. Another religious figure, Archbishop Cruz, contradicted Rosales and said that he would support such an outcome, especially if it was the right thing to do. Former Presidents Erap Estrada and Fidel Ramos both disagreed with Aquino's call and Estrada even went on to say that Aquino should learn some lessons of humility from his mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

In response, both Aquino and his running mate, Sen. Mar Roxas, said that they were probably misunderstood or that those who disagreed were misinformed. In separate statements both said that if something wrong or bad is happening then the right thing to do is to really stand up against it.
