No Dalai Lama Foodorama

The Dalai Lama and Obama didn’t share a meal. But if they had, it might’ve been steak.

Previously, I discovered and raved about Obama Foodorama, an often hilarious and unique blog discussing anything related to food and the American presidential power couple.

So although I was initially excited at what might pop up there in light of last month’s meeting between President Obama and the Dalai Lama, I found myself disappointed. It seems that since their time spent together in the Map Room of the White House was only an hour and a half—with no meal included—there wasn’t much to report in terms of food.

However, those looking for some titillating facts on the Dalai Lama’s eating habits, can always turn to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article from a few years back, ‘Dalai Lama digs into veal, pheasant,’ that described the spiritual leader’s surprising carnivorous side and how at one sitting, he ‘chowed down’ on everything from veal to coffee ice cream to nine pieces of bread.
