Known in Thailand as the October 6th event, the 1976 massacre of student protesters at Thammasat University in Bangkok by state forces remains a difficult subject to broach in Thailand. Forty-six were killed and hundreds injured, no perpetrators were ever brought to justice. On the massacre’s 40th anniversary, artists organized an exhibit to remember the events through art and dance. Meanwhile, Thailand’s pro-democracy activists still deal with significant state pressure.
