The Diplomat, a leading publication on the Asia-Pacific, seeks a regular, paid writer to cover news around the militaries of the Asia-Pacific including updates on major arms acquisitions, defense industry developments, and military diplomacy, for its Asia Defense section.

The writer will be responsible for writing two short articles a week for The Diplomat, around 500-800 words in length, on developments in individual Asia-Pacific countries. Candidates who are based in the region are strongly preferred.

Desired qualities:

  • Previous experience either writing for online or print publications on defense-related subjects and/or Asian affairs
  • Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of military affairs in the Asia-Pacific
  • A strong command of the English language (Asian languages a plus).
