Mubashar Hasan, Ph.D., is a Sydney-based scholar and analyst of geopolitics in South Asia.

Mubashar Hasan is a researcher, communication expert and policy analyst. A well-known expert in Bangladesh, Hasan holds a Ph.D. in politics from Griffith University, Australia. He is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages at the University of Oslo, Norway. Since 2019, he has been an adjunct fellow at the Humanitarian and Development Research Initiative (HADRI) at the University of Western Sydney, Australia.  In addition to authoring two books, Islam and Politics in Bangladesh” and Narratives of Bangladesh: Culture, Politics and History,” Hasan has co-edited two books and written numerous journal articles and chapters on Bangladesh and global politics. Apart from The Diplomat, his think pieces have been published in the Foreign Policy Magazine, Lowe Institute’s Interpreter, Georgetown Journal of International Affairs, Al Jazeera, E-IR, The Conversation US and Australia, OpenDemocracy and LSE@South Asia, among others.

In 2021, Griffith University conferred an Outstanding International Alumni award on Dr Hasan for his role in promoting human rights and democracy in Bangladesh.
