Cholpon Orozobekova is a researcher and journalist from Kyrgyzstan, currently based in Geneva.

Cholpon Orozobekova is a researcher and journalist from Kyrgyzstan, currently based in Geneva. She writes on Russia, China, and Central Asian issues. In October 2016 she began work as The Diplomat’s UN correspondent in Geneva and reports from the UN Human Rights Council and other UN side events.

Cholpon holds an Executive Master degree in International Negotiation and Policymaking from the Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies. She also holds an MA in International and European Security from the University of Geneva. Her Bachelor’s degree is from Kyrgyz State Pedagogical University. She previously worked for RFE/RL, IWPR, BBC ‘s Kyrgyz Service, and several local newspapers in Kyrgyzstan.
